Sciatica

Take the Sting Out of Every Step.

Sciatica is pain that travels from the low back or hip down the leg, often with tingling or numbness. It's frustrating, but for many people it responds well to conservative care.

The sciatic nerve can be irritated by several things, including a tight piriformis muscle, a joint that isn't moving well, or a disc. Your exam sorts out which is most likely, because that determines what we do next.

Care usually combines gentle adjustments, targeted soft-tissue work, and specific movements that ease pressure on the nerve. We also cover the daily positions and habits that tend to aggravate it, like long sitting and awkward lifting.

Common reasons people come in

  • Pain radiating from the low back or buttock into one leg
  • Tingling, burning, or numbness down the leg
  • Pain that worsens with sitting, coughing, or standing up
  • Difficulty finding a comfortable position

Common questions

Sciatica: Common Questions

How long does sciatica take to improve?

Many cases ease over several weeks with consistent care and sensible activity. Longer-standing or more severe cases may take more time. We set expectations at your first visit and check in on progress.

Should I rest or stay active?

Gentle movement is usually better than bed rest. We show you what to do and what to avoid so you can stay active safely.

When is sciatica an emergency?

Progressive weakness in the leg, numbness in the groin or inner thighs, or changes in bladder or bowel control need immediate medical care. We screen for these signs at every visit.
